Cortney Herron

Cortney Herron is a contemporary figurative painter, whose work is characterized by bold yet calming color palettes that bring a sense of tranquility and peace to the viewer. Her use of organic forms and shapes creates a sense of connectedness we as a people have to the natural world.

Born and raised in sunny Los Angeles, California, Cortney developed a deep appreciation for nature from a young age. She spent much of her childhood exploring the outdoors and observing the subtle nuances of the environment around her, learning about the beauty and importance of staying present in the moment. This connection and deep appreciation for nature would later become a driving force behind her artistic vision.

She also believes that color has the power to evoke emotions and create a sense of atmosphere, and she carefully creates her palette to convey a particular mood or feeling. Her paintings are often suffused with warm, earthy tones that create a sense of harmony and tranquility.

One of Cortney’s favorite subjects is the human form, which she portrays in a way that emphasizes the unique moments in time where we can be lost in a daydream or deep in thought. Mimicking the rawness and authenticity of life at any given moment, her work is honest yet playful - where perspective and proportion have no rules and you’re simply able to see even the tiniest glimpse of your innermost self within the piece. So her work emulates a sense of authenticity and connectedness to not only the world around us, but our internal selves.

As a full-time artist, primarily working in the acrylic, oil, and digital mediums, Cortney also lends her creativity to various brands through special collaborations, commissions, and partnerships, including Bombay Sapphire, Dagne Dover, Society6, and Refinery29. She has also been featured on podcasts and numerous publications including The Argonaut and VoyageLA.
